Pedestrian accidents: woman killed crossing San Francisco street

Walking on the streets of San Francisco during the early evening hours can mean facing crowded streets and sidewalks, even on the weekend. Regrettably, accidents sometimes occur simply due in part to this congestion. In some cases these accidents can lead to injury and death for the victims, as was tragically the case recently.

On May 6, a woman said to be in her 20s was killed after being involved in a pedestrian accident. The victim was crossing Masonic at the time of the collision. She was reportedly out of the crosswalk near Euclid Avenue, though her exact location in relation to a crosswalk and coming traffic was not revealed. As she made the attempt to cross the road, a southbound vehicle crashed into her. Sadly, she died, adding to the number of fatal car accidents in the Bay Area.

Car accidents: driver killed in 3-vehicle crash near Los Gatos

California Highway Patrol says a multiple-car accident that happened on April 29 resulted in the death of one. At least some lanes of a busy highway Los Gatos-area highway were closed for quite a while as officials worked to clear the scene of the accidents.

Officials report that a driver was in a sedan heading southbound on Highway 17 when he or she struck two other cars on the highway. The impact caused the sedan to roll and land in the northbound lanes. The driver of the sedan reportedly died at the scene of the accident. The nature and extent of injuries to other drivers was not immediately known.

5-car crash on Golden Gate Bridge injures 2

Anyone who has driven in the San Francisco area knows that when an accident happens on the Golden Gate Bridge, chaos can ensue. Traffic was reportedly backed up on April 24 when five cars were involved in a serious crash. At least two of the accident victims suffered injuries. One victim was transported to the Marin General Hospital for medical treatment where further word on his or her medical condition was not immediately available.

According to police reports, the car accident occurred on San Francisco's famed bridge around 8:20 a.m. Authorities say that as traffic slowed on the bridge, a northbound driver rear-ended another car. This impact caused a chain reaction collision that eventually involved five northbound vehicles.

Bay Area single-car crash causes death, personal injury for teens

A recent single-car accident near King City ended in the death of one teenager and injuries to two others, all of whom were 18-years-old. The three young victims were former students of Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland. They were heading northbound on Highway 101 when the driver lost control and veered into the center median, tragically resulting in death and personal injury. The impact caused the vehicle to roll down a 100-foot embankment near Underwood Road.

The driver was killed at the scene after being trapped inside the vehicle along with one of the passengers. The car ultimately came to a rest on its roof. The other passenger was thrown from the car in the crash. The injured passengers were flown to local Bay Area hospitals.

Bicycle accidents: 2 dead after Contra Costa County crash

California has long been known for its lovely weather and active residents. Picturesque settings of sunny beaches, green forests and bicycle trails abound. However, in some California cities, bicycle accidents and personal injury are more frequent than others as bikers attempt to travel roads not marked with bicycle lanes.

A man and his 9-year-old daughter were killed on April 7 as they rode their bicycles on Treat Boulevard in Concord, a San Francisco suburb located in the East Bay. The man and his two daughters were riding their bikes on the sidewalk along the busy street that Saturday morning. Suddenly, a 17-year-old driver in a Cadillac Escalade crashed the curb, toppled a fire hydrant and struck the bicycling family before hitting a building.

Bike accident at Castro and Market leads to pedestrian death

San Francisco is famed for its steep hills and winding roads. People come from all over the world to walk and ride down the hills of our city. However, sometimes catastrophic accidents happen when people fail to obey traffic laws as they enjoy the ride.

Police report that an elderly man from San Bruno was killed on March 29 as he crossed the intersection of Castro and Market streets. The man was struck by a bicyclist who may have failed to stop at a red light. The victim was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, reports state.

San Francisco pedestrian crushed in fatal car crash

Although we often like to think of San Francisco as a very pedestrian friendly city, yet that does not always seem to be the case. Automobile accidents that result in a pedestrian death unfortunately do happen, leaving a family to mourn over the passing of a loved one. Most recently, one man was killed while crossing Lombard Street.

According to reports, the accident happened one night late last month. A 45-year-old man was crossing the San Francisco road between two intersections when a motorist struck him. He was pinned beneath the car and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Heavy rains lead to fatal crash in Oakland

The heavy California rains that fell in the Bay Area recently have done a small amount to alleviate the drought that we had been experiencing over the prior few months. However, there have been some negative effects of the rainstorms, including car accidents. Sometimes nature combines with heavy traffic and poor decision-making, resulting in accidents and injuries.

Police report that a Berkeley freshman died and others were injured on March 15 in a bizarre set of car accidents. The fatal collision began when a tree fell on Highway 13 south of Park Boulevard in the Oakland hills. The Berkeley student was driving a Toyota Camry that struck the tree. He and his three passengers exited the car, which had stopped in the center median, and crossed the highway to the right shoulder.

3-car accident leads to major injury in Concord

California Highway Patrol officials are reporting that a three-car accident occurred in Concord on March 15. The collisions caused the Highway 4 off-ramp onto Highway 242 southbound to be closed for a period of time during the early morning while police worked to clean up the car accident.

Police report that after one car crashed on its own, another vehicle struck it, spinning out of control. A third car struck one of those vehicles, though exact details are not clear at this time. At least one person was injured, suffering what were described as major injuries, when he landed in the middle of the road. He may have been ejected from a vehicle, though the investigation continues and authorities have not yet confirmed the source of his injuries.

San Francisco child hit by car on the way to school

Every morning thousands of parents take their children by the hand and head out through the streets of San Francisco to make their way to school. As they head toward the school building, the parents and kids must contend with traffic, busy sidewalks and our famed cable cars. Accidents and personal injury sometimes occur when some of these collide.

On March 6 a mother and her 5-year-old daughter left their home and began walking to school in Polk Gulch. As they headed toward the kindergarten class at San Francisco's Redding Elementary School, the little girl and her mom stepped onto Frank Norris Street from between two parked cars. As they came out from between the cars, the little girl was struck by an oncoming Jeep.
